I've been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as well as Generalized Anxiety Disorder and OCD. This means that I can be socially awkward. Once you get to know me I'm very talkative and playful.
Currently I'm working on a Master's degree in Library and Information Science. I'm studying part-time while living with my mum and commuting to campus.
In my opinion, my best qualities are honesty and loyalty. Owing to the Asperger's, I'm very guileless and am a terribl liar though I do try to be tactful to a certain extent so as not to hurt others unnecessarily.Beyond this I value honesty very highly. I believe people should be open, genuine and authentic and do not think anything but superficial relationships can be forged when they aren't. Superficial relationships don;t interest me at all. I'm also a fiercely loyal friend and partner (when relevant). The idea of betraying or cheating on my partner, when I had one, never even occurred to me and I still can't quite understand why some people do it.
Also, I've very warm, caring and compassionate towards the ones I love. I have an intellectual side and do enjoy debates about philosophical and political issues but also enjoy watching mindless T.V and reading teen fantasy series. =)
I'm an avid reader and a frequent patron of the local library. My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi. This may seem an odd thing to mention here but reading is something I'm very passionate about and find very fulfilling.
My undergrad degree is in Psychology and I find anything to do with the brain, genetics and/or human behaviour fascinating. Learning and studying, especially about human nature is another of my passions.
Being spiritual is also very important to me. My ultimate goal n life to be a good human being and contribute what good I can to the world and this society which has given me so much. I'm not sure if I'll be able to work a normal full-time (9-5) job because of my disabilities but I want to give what I'm capable of giving. One thing I'd like to do, to this end ,is some volunteer work to help out the Jewish community. This'll probably have to wait 'till I've finish school and get some kind of job and get settled.
My family of origin are Reform Jews and for the most part aren't very observant. I've decided to make Judaism a bigger part of my life as an adult. I do keep Kosher to some degree. I pray every night and I'd be open to going to synagogue regularly and becoming more observant. If I ever have children I will want them to have a Jewish identity and observe Jewish traditions.
The person I'd like to share my life with must be patient, kind and not too judgmental. He must accept me for who I am. He should be genuine and loyal. He should be able to have intelligent conversations.
In terms of politics, I'd much prefer someone who supports Israel in general even if critical of the country. That isn't necessary but FYI, I am a staunch supporter of Israel. My political orientation is centre- right.
I'm open to dating a guy who's not very observant or oe who is as long as he has a spiritual side and supports my religious beliefs.
As for the disability afflicting said hypothetical potential partner, I'm very open-minded.
He should probably be Canadian or live in Buffalo or somewhere near as It'd be difficult for me to re-locate.
